Terming Vindhya as utterly neglected PM launches Rs 5555 cr rural drinking water project | India News

VARANASI: Launching ambitious Rs 5,555.38 crores rural drinking water supply projects under Jal Jeevan Mission for Vindhya region Prime Modi Narendra Modi said, “Despite having vast network of rivers and being full of minerals Vindhya and Bundelkhand region remained neglected after independence.”
After laying foundation stone of 14 packages of this project through video conferencing on Sunday PM said that Vindhya and Bundhelkhand regions of UP had remained full of resources but they wore the image of dry and drought zones. Problems even of arranging clean water for drinking not only left the women struggling but kept the men compelled to migrate from these regions, he said.
Modi said that the JJM has started changing lives of over 1.50 crore people especially in Bundelkhand region after getting launched in 2019 and it will also change the course of life in Vindhya region in coming days also.
Modi also interacted with village water and sanitation committee member Phoolpatti Devi of Gurmura village but due to technical problem his interaction with members from other villagers was stopped.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Ghaghraul and UP Jal Shakti minister Mahendra Singh attended a grand function hosted by Sonbhadra district administration at Ghaghraul dam in remote Karmao village.
