Residents said they had seen a leopard in the night, said DFO, Awadh, Ravi Kumar, after which a team was sent to search the area.

“The pugmarks found at the place appear to be that of a hyena. The team also found the colony’s boundary wall broken. The animal could have moved in from the broken wall,” said the DFO.
A patch of thickets is close to the colony. The team could not locate the animal and there is all the possibility that it has already moved out of the place.
Residents were advised to move out in groups and stay alert. The contact number of section officer was shared with them and they were told to inform on the number if needed.
